I don’t know who penned the saying, “As leadership goes, so goes everything else.” It is a sobering reality that we have seen played out with both positive and negative ramifications. The current church landscape is littered with more than enough recurring examples of moral failure, authoritative abuse, and self-promoting agendas among those who should be feeding and caring for the flock of God. At the same time we are witnessing incredible breakthroughs and advancements through individuals who have been anointed and appointed to lead with the heart of the King
“And I shall also raise up shepherds over them and they will tend them; and they will not be afraid any longer, nor be terrified, nor will any be missing, declares the Lord.”
(Jeremiah 23:5)
I believe that there is a new breed of spiritual leadership that is emerging in this hour. They have been hidden away for a season, but the times are necessitating their revealing. Their school of preparation in the cave of rejection has freed them from the need for the applause of men. Many have been ostracized from the current religious systems because they are hearing a new sound, and the drummer to which they are marching has a different beat. They are not interested in propagating exclusive political institutions that maintain the status quo, rather, their predominant focus is the advancement of the kingdom of God.
“Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end…”
Armed with the revelation of trans-generational inheritance, they understand the need for the wisdom of the fathers. Finding the proper connections with those who have gone before them, they are entering into the existing heritages while simultaneously listening for the sound of those coming behind them that need to be trained and released to affect their generation.
This current contrast in the ranks is facilitating a shift in the way things are done. We will continue to witness the implementation of new technologies, the birth of fresh cultural expressions, and many other creative strategies as the Body of Christ matures into the glorious Bride that she is destined to be.
Make no mistake - the Church that Jesus is building is moving from glory to glory. The “shining brightness” that Isaiah saw is rising on Jesus’ Bride. The nations are responding and coming to the light. It is time to shine.
“And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”
(Isaiah 60:3)
