Florida is once again abuzz with spiritual activity. On center stage is Todd Bentley and the Lakeland Outpouring. In addition to the intensity of this newest move of God, the overriding characteristic that amazes me is the speed by which the word has spread.

Whether you are a skeptic or not (the purpose of this post is not to criticize or endorse) we are witnessing a coordination of media technology that is freely disbursing the information around the world in a matter of minutes. Here are a couple of my perspectives, and I would welcome any other responses and insights.

GodTV network has temporarily cancelled all scheduled programming to air live the nightly meetings. I do not ever recall a Christian network to put its regular programming on hold so that the world-wide Christian community can share in the blessing and praise of what is currently happening. I am particularly moved by this because it appears to be a departure from the irrelevant, status-quo that currently defines what we know as Christian broadcasting. Not everyone is able to jump on a plane and shoot down to Florida to get in the flow, but it is possible to still be ministered to via television. Thank you Rory and Wendy.

And of course, the internet. For those who do not have cable or satellite television, the world wide web is once again transcending barriers and keeping us connected. I view this as a major benefit to the Body of Christ and a key tool in the advancement of the kingdom of God throughout the earth. Nightly, people are communicating via the net with ministers on stage at the meetings and sharing what God is doing as they hear and watch from their corner of the world. Awesome!

What a great time to be alive and involved in the work of the kingdom. “And the whole earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”
