In Defense of the Church that Jesus is Building (part 2)

July 17th, 2008 · No Comments · Apostolic Perspectives, Kingdom Culture

The church that Jesus is building does not need to rely on slick human marketing techniques in order to grow. It is a living, breathing, loving, ever-expanding part of His kingdom that relies soley upon His Spirit for life, vitality, leadership, and direction.

“…and the Lord kept adding to their number daily those who were being saved from spiritual death.”  (Acts 2:47)

The growth of the church is something that takes place through attraction, not self-promotion. The Gospel alone has enough power to save without adding any other perks and promises to the equation. The Holy Spirit continues to draw men to Jesus, and it is our responsibility to recognize when it is happening and do our part to share with them the Good News and help usher them into the kingdom.

All across the earth in every nation and among every tribe, the kingdom of God is advancing. Even in the face of great persecution the “ecclesia” is progressively revealing the glory of the One who has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light.

“That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation, among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the dark world.”  (Philippians 2:15)
