What Are You Telling Yourself About Yourself?

July 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment · Spiritual Growth and Development

Experts in the counseling arena predict that we subconsciously send ourselves somewhere around 1,500 messages per minute. Of course, most of these “scripts” we are unaware of, but over time they have formed a construct of belief that has served as the guidance system for every decision we make.

As an equipping minister to the Body of Christ, my daily task is to assist people in discovery of the self-defeating cycles that they have empowered through agreement with lies. The Bible refers to this process as “renewing the mind” with truth.

“…be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”

It is an essential, ongoing, proactive process that changes us “from glory to glory.” It is absolutely necessary if we are going to fulfill the God-ordained purposes for which we have all been created.

“…so that you may prove for yourselves what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect in His sight for you.”

If we are going to change our self-talk (the internal dialogue that we have with ourselves about ourselves), we must make the Scriptures our “script.”
